Gifts of Summer

Did you know that today is officially the first day of SUMMER?!?  Sure it still may be a bit on the chilly side here in Southern California, but we know that sooner or later, the temps will heat up and there will be plenty of beach days, poolside parties and BBQ's to enjoy.

So imagine our excitement when we opened up freshly delivered boxes last week to discover some amazing items that would be perfect for host/hostess gifts.  Sure, these pieces would be a wonderful little indulgence for your own home or collection, but we believe in spreading the love here at Chartreuse, so may we suggest a few things to take along with you to your next summer bash?  We assure you that if you present your hostess with one of these little pieces, you will secure yourself a spot on the guest list next summer.

Oh and did we mention they are all under $20?  Ha!  Now we knew that would get your attention!

First up on the list are these gorgeous little colored lanterns and votive holders.  Made of iridescent glass, they cast a beautiful light when lit and sparkle in the sunlight.  Fill them with citronella tea lights and you have a fabulous alternative to the standard, yet unsightly citronella candle in a can.
Look at the detail in these pieces
We love how these lanterns look clustered together.
We think they would be perfect lining a walkway or as a dining room table centerpiece
Ranging from $12-$19, any hostess would love to have one of these decorative pieces.

Wine anyone?
Sure, your favorite blend of Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc is always a thoughtful and appreciated gesture.  But how much more impressive does that bottle of wine become when accompanied by a beautiful frosted glass or crystal wine stopper?  In summer ocean themes, choose a seahorse, shell or starfish.

Perhaps your host is a voyager of the sea?
Then surely he will go overboard for a sail boat or anchor themed stopper.
All wine stoppers range in price from $15-$19

And while this owl may have nothing to do with hostess gifts, we just couldn't resist showing you one other little item that was delivered last week and that Wendy, the Owner of Chartreuse, is smitten with.
Isn't he cute?
Made of white enameled ceramic, this chic and stylish umbrella holder
is a fun way to add a bit of interest to any little corner of your home.

Wishing you all a happy and fun filled Summer!
Please come by and see us the next time you need that perfect little something for a special host/hostess.

Through the Looking Glass

We're loving the glass pieces that have been coming in the store lately and think they're such a fun and easy way to add a little summer sparkle to your home at an affordable price.  From apothecary jars, to mason jars, updating your home decor with glass is no longer just a trend, but almost a must.  Glass is light, fresh, and clean, yet makes a bold statement.  Take a look at some of our favorite glass pieces currently featured at Chartreuse.

These beautiful hand-blown glass globes are replicas of the glass fishing floats that were once used around the world by fisherman to help keep their nets afloat.  Although no longer used in modern fishing times, these floats are now popular collector's items and add a great interest piece to any niche in your home.  We've even seen them used outdoors in the garden.  The rippled texture adds interest to each piece and the light aqua marine color is just perfect.

Have you been looking for a pretty alternative to the typical glass votive holder?  Look no further because these sweet little hand-blown class votive holders will do just nicely.  Their light and delicate nature look gorgeous when illuminated at night by a votive, but stand alone as a petite accent piece for your table during the day.  They could also be sweet bud vases, and at $19 a piece, make a perfect gift for a friend.

Our most recent delivery at Chartreuse brought these gorgeous and unique opalescent milky glass jars.  Ranging in diameter from 5.5" - 11", they look fantastic all bundled together as pictured, or as a simple accent pieces on their own.  Depending on how the light hits them, the glass changes from shades of white to shades of blue.  And the varying lips on each jar just add to the interest.  Ranging from $19-$39 a piece, these are another quick, easy, affordable and elegant way to update some of your summer decor.

Come in soon and take a look in person at all of our new and fresh accessories to update your home!
